Monday Through Sunday.

On Monday, I started this temp assignment at Franchise Concepts up in Clayton. It consists of sorting royalty/ad fee reports by store number and then date. It was only supposed to last through Wednesday, but I'll be heading in this Monday, too, and maybe Tuesday depending on how the work goes. I'm a little tired of the commute (about an hour long: 55 - 270 - 64), but it's money, so oh well.

Last night I really felt like going out and doing something, so I tried to round up a herd of people but was unsuccessful, and in the end Scotty X and I went to the Hi-Pointe (a little one-theater cinema on McCausland) to see Thank You For Smoking. It was pretty good, lots of dark humor, stuff that might go over some people's heads. I guess that's why it didn't have a better showing.

In the car, Scott really enjoyed my method of story-telling: meandering, often interrupted, pointless stories. He also enjoyed rocking out to Gnarls Barkley. "This is some pretty weird stuff, I'm not gonna lie."

We got to the theater really early because I thought the movie started at 9:15, and it actually began at 9:40. I wished I had brought my camera so that Scott could go sit in the very front row, while I sat in the back.

We had milkshakes afterward. HOT FUDGE?!

Anyway, it was a good time. Today I just slept in, watched the baseball game (which we won.. 7 in a row!) and the 40 Year Old Virgin, and we're having meatloaf for dinner. The End!

Temping.

So I went into my testing/interview appointment with the temp agency on Wednesday, and they had me do some paper tests (spelling, matching) and then a computer test to determine my proficiency in Word and Excel and then my typing speed/accuracy. They seemed impressed with the typing skills, but I know I could've done even better, if I had had a decent keyboard.

Anyway, the agency (Stivers Staffing) called this morning to offer me a week's position as a receptionist, which they described as "mostly phones, light computer work". The agency also said that the client was a little nervous about having a temp, since she'd had a bad experience with one before, but I just needed to call the client and assure her by sounding perky and competent. I said something about not having much phone experience, and the person from the agency expressed surprise. She thought I had answered phones at Ameren. Nope. Okay, sorry for the misunderstanding, they would call me for the next one.

Five minutes later, Stivers calls again, this time offering a filing position for next Monday through Wednesday, up in Clayton, which is a bit of a hike, but beggars certainly can't be choosers. So I'm rather pleased to have something to do, where I'll be earning money. Otherwise, my dad was going to set me up with some chores, so I could earn my keep!

Happy America Day.

We kept it under $80 this year. :)
