Once a day I used to walk through the garden
Revealing my latest insights with the flowers
And the occasional duck sharing the hospitality of my waterlily beds.
Then by mere chance our paths intertwined
And I crashed into you, a brilliant supernova
Shattering my quiet white star existence.
Like a gust of wind sweeping a field of dandelions
Sending their seeds — ladies in full white skirts — flying.
Our days together filled with marvelous new experiences
Of exotic cuisine and rollercoaster love.
And I didn't have time to educate the flowers
And the occasional duck,
Or even worry about not doing it.
But like a raging summer storm,
You blew out as fast as your blew in,
Off to explode someone else's world,
And leave them with a whole new perspective.
Maybe they'll be bitter.
Not me, I'll just go back to my flowers
And perhaps the occasional duck
Sharing the hospitality of my waterlily beds.
My first poem not pirated off of anything or given an assigned subject.
I must say though, that
Joshua Christian Merritt
inspired me a great deal. What a wonderful person. And thriving poet as well.
