I am reading the book of Luke. Luke was a physician (a doctor!) and he wasn't an apostle. He studied Jesus's doings and travels, and I guess he asked around and interviewed people. It must have been quite an undertaking, since he wasn't there when Jesus did his thang. But Luke was quite an intelligent man, and he did a good job. GOOD JOB, LUKE! Here's some main stuff that seemed to stick out for me.

Luke 1:41 - 44 -- Elizabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth .. said with a loud voice, "Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb. And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy." This touches me. It's like, before John the Baptist (Elizabeth's baby) even was BORN, he knew who the Big Boss is. John was a special guy too. (Luke 1:15 -- For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb.)

Luke 2:7 -- And [Mary] brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. Basically, to me, this indicates two main things. One, Jesus was always stressing how you should be humble (Luke 14:11 For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.) and he had a very humble beginning. Think about it. It's the SON OF GOD, and he's sleeping in the same room with pigs and cows and stuff. He deserves better. Two, perhaps this is related to the first: The world was not ready for or expecting him.)

Luke 2:13 -- And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God.. The term "multitude of the heavenly host" means, simply, a lot of angels.

And Jesus answering said unto him, "It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God." There you go, folks. if Jesus said it, don't do it! I think Jesus knows what he is talking about.

Luke 6:27 - 29 -- Love your enemies, do good to people who hate you, bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you. And unto him that hits you on the one cheek, offer him the other too; and if he takes your coat, offer your shirt to him. This is a hard one to get down. It's hard to be nice to the people that don't like you. But Jesus said this one too. So we should all try.. and maybe we'll do it!
