[9:15pm] You darn people with your big mouths. Stop talking!
August 21 2001
[8:21am] School starts tomorrow. I'm going to relish today by.. SITTING AROUND ON MY BOOTY! Aw yeah.
August 20 2001
[10:53am] Sorry about the lack of updates and stuff. Jeez. My writing for August has sucked. Lemme see 6 whole entries thus far, plus this one.. That's 7! Wow. I'm a math genius. Okay. News: I have my school supplies. I have to leave for band practice in an hour, and about 25 minutes ago, I made a bandana that looks like kitty ears. Sort of. It's the way the sides stick up dorkily. Ouch. I have this sore on the side of my mouth, and I've had it since last Friday (Aug 10.) It's not going away because whenever I smile, it splits. It hurts. Ow.
August 12 2001
[12:41pm] I went shopping yesterday and got cool stuff. Pants from Abercrombie, along with a zip-up track jacket and a sweater from there too. From Delia's, I got plaid pants and a red polo shirt, a white polo just like the red one, and jeans with the waist frayed.
August 10 2001
[4:41pm] I'm exhausted. I'm back from band camp and I've learned the show and I've lost 4% body fat in 5 days, but I've gained 3 lbs. Muscle. Aw yeah. I'll try and write out everything that happened at band camp soon. Or at least.. some of it. 12 days til school starts.
August 5 2001
[10:57am] I'm all packed and ready for band camp. At least I think I'm all packed. So this week I'll try to keep relaxed and get enough sleep and practice hard and be nice to Dave M. I wonder if I'll be able to acheive any of those goals.
August 4 2001
[9:27pm] Tomorrow I leave for band camp. I'll be back Friday afternoon, when I get my school pictures taken. Aight? Aight.
[10:39am] There's this kid, Dave M. He's a trumpet rookie and I am finding that I have less and less patience with this kid. Unfortunately, I have to try and be nice to him because no one else is. They all pretty much think it's okay to verbally abuse him. Sometimes, though, Dave brings it on himself. For example: Dave gets impatient with us when we aren't practicing at sectionals. Yesterday we were listening to the original versions of opener and production and he starts playing. He gets told to shut up, so he takes his stuff and walks out of the room. (We have sectionals in the boys dressing room.) Dave claims he's going to the bathroom, but really goes to the band room to practice. He didn't seem to understand that we were listening to the songs for him, so that he would know how the originals went. There are other things that I could whine about but I have decided not to. So I'm done with that.

[5:56am] I am very tired. And I just checked my email and Joe said that he wasn't mad at me. It was just purely coincedental that we hadn't been able to talk in a while. Okay. Now I go and take my shower.
July 31 2001
[5:02pm] Wow. Less than seven hours left of July. That's been quick. Yesterday marked the 5000th hit on calapitter. I still have some cleaning left to do but I'd also like to talk to Joe because I think he's mad at me for something, but I don't know what. He won't talk to me, or when he does (very little) it's like he doesn't want to be there. Ugh.
July 30 2001
[6:32am] FYI: I started writing that last post on Saturday, so that's why there's a 'yesterday' in the first sentence.
July 29 2001
[2:30pm] I want to remember all of yesterday when I go back and read this all, when there will be no more band for me (2 years from now.) I got up at 6:00, got ready, and we left for school. We arrived at 7:00 and sat around with the guard girls, who blasted N*sync's "Pop" out of their car. The guard girls danced, I sat and blinked, and Kris ate sugar and creamer out of Kelly the guard girl's McDonalds bag. Lindsey was there and she had been "kidnapped" by the guard girls, and she was MAD. She was showing her witch side. I said, "You look awake." She replied, "Bite me."
Eventually Mr Castor came and unlocked the door, and we all went inside. Then it was time for a drum major and section leader meeting. So I was out, even though I am the (unofficial) Spirit Leader of the trumpet section. We weren't even allowed to stay in the band room; we had to go outside and sit where it was buggy and gross. But soon enough, I found 42 (aka. Chris C) and talked to him awhile.
The section leaders and everyone went out to the parking lot. The rookies all got blocked up and ready to march, but they couldn't get in straight lines for the world. Kris and Crystal, our drum majors, marked them off at even spacing and then they began the drills. Eventually Mr Wisdom made us march and that wasn't so bad. The part that was bad was that the drum majors had changed stuff. Like when we do a dress (turn your head to your left or right side to see if you're in line with everyone else), we have to put our arms up and out and say "1, 2!" It's different than just turning your head. So, of course, people have to complain about it being different.
Joe B, "What the %^$! is with this stuff, I never learned it.. Why wasn't I told? Why does it have to be different? etc.." So I told him to shut up. And he said, "You shut up!" And I said "I wasn't talking." And he said, "You said, 'Shut up.'" And I just shook my head and laughed at his stupididity. Yes, stupididity. We marched, then went inside and played our music, and we marched a little more, and then we had sectionals, and then we went back and played music again and then practice was over.
But of course, I had to stay because of my tard brother (just kidding, Ty) who is in drumline. They had another practice in the afternoon and my mom has this thing called a job so she can't be running all over the place to pick us up and stuff. So Kris and I stayed and we practiced flags. You know the rest.
July 27 2001
[9:57pm] I felt really good about band today. The music is going well, we have the first 13 measures of opener memorized, and people like my new brace-less teeth. Some people like to make fun of my car accident, to which I reply with a curt "Shaddup." Today I learned how to do dropspins off the right and off the left. That's hard! But I'll get good at them soon. And I was also instructed on how to do a portspin but didn't really get a chance to practice that.
July 26 2001
[10:51am] Or I could be stupid and smart off to my mom and spend the evening in my room. Today I get my
retainer. Whoop-dee-doo, right? And tomorrow is band. I feel okay about it, because without
the braces, I can play semi-well.
July 25 2001
[6:30pm] There's nothing on TV tonight. But luckily for me, I get to spend the night doing one
of three things: a.) redesigning calapitter, b.) practicing playing the trumpet, c.) watching
TV anyway.
