adverbs, etc.) Jake was very grateful and I was very self-congratulatory.. "I am SUCH a stud."
September 30 2002
[6:35pm] This morning I woke up and groggily rolled over and looked at my alarm angrily. "You can't really be going off right now. I JUST got to sleep. Mr Alarm, please go back to sleep."
September 28 2002
[7:18pm] Okay.. so, last year at Sullivan, we get first place. Then, the next year, we get second-to-last. Hrmph. But anyway, our score this time was 81.55 (whereas last week's score was like 56, so.. 25 POINTS HIGHER?!?!?!) Thanks to Doyle -- yes, good visuals and whatnot. Thanks to band -- not pulling them off correctly because we only learned them Thursday, and then we cancelled them, and then put them back in.. sigh.. The life of a band nerd. So, fourth place out of five. But that didn't dampen our spirits on the bus home. We began plotting a trip to the movies, but then I just went home because I felt dirty and tired.
September 27 2002
[3:14pm] Yay! It's Burger-King-Before-Football-Game time!! Whee! Chris C is picking me up and it's freakin beautiful.
September 26 2002
[6:25am] Wow. That was quite possibly the most awesome thing in the land. I was no more than 30 feet away from them, and it was a beautiful night. They played (not in this order): All For You, Do You Like It, Naveed, Superman's Dead, Clumsy, One Man Army, Is Anybody Home, Right Behind You (Mafia), In Repair, Life, Are You Sad?, Somewhere Out There, Innocent, Not Enough, Bring Back the Sun, A Story About a Girl.. and a couple I didn't know. Bwahahaha!!! I love this stuff. I'll have pictures soon.
September 25 2002
[5:33pm] Tonight is the big Our Lady Peace show.. I'm so excited and I just can't hide it. I'm about to lose control and I think I like it. It'll be nice to go somewhere other than school, school-related band-places, home, gas station, and Walmart. It'll be an adventure, and better yet-- I'll be with Kelly, Rob, Chris B, and Chris C! I'm so excited! (Wait, I've already said that.)
September 24 2002
[8:48pm] Some funny pictures to cheer up your day.

[8:06pm] Of course. OF COURSE. Of course it would turn out like this: the one day I don't do my Calculus homework, I get assigned to put a problem on the board. OF COURSE. (Stop saying 'of course.') Instead of writing mathematical things on the board, I wrote: SORRY. -heart- Becky. At least Mr N was understanding and didn't say "Darn you to heck." At least tomorrow is Our Lady Peace. At least everyone loves me. :)
September 22 2002
[4:21pm] After a fairly disappointing Kaplan (they LOST the dang virtual reality tests we took two weeks ago..), I need some fun. So Jake and I are going to hit the Walmart. Wheeee!!
[7:47am] It's kind of weird how things turn out, isn't it? 6th place.
September 21 2002
[7:04am] Well, Rob, I think you've done your job of trying to get me pumped up. Today is Farmington, everybody, and I am soooo excited! I just want to tear it up out there. It's weird how pumped up I am. I woke up 2 minutes before I had to -- without the alarm. So I'm excited. On a non-marching band related note: I found out yesterday that I didn't get any National Merit stuff. Boo-hoo.
September 19 2002
[6:39am] P.S. I will try to bring the lists down here and scan them for you. Or just write down my favorites off of the list.
[6:35am] I feel horrible. Well, not good: I lost the first sign in a series of four celebrating Becky ****** Appreciation Week. I like this week a lot because Shawn always comes up to me and says "We Love You Becky!" Because he doesn't know that it's not We Love Becky Week. If he had a grasp of what was going on, he would say "We Appreciation You Becky".. But either way is great. :)
September 17 2002
[7:55pm] Yawwwwwn. We went to McKendree and got participation (quite possibly the most fun award to recieve, we cheered like nobody's business), 1st place, best colorguard, best visual effect, best drum majors, best general effect, 2nd best winds, and 2nd best percussion. So yes, we rock.
September 14 2002
[7:10am] By the way, Chris C decided to be a big stupid sucky guy and not take me to the football for reasons unbeknownst to me. And Jake never called, so I went with Kelly to spirit shop. We had a lotta fun. "Here Brian, pickles." "Here Brian, a punkin lamp thing." "Here Brian, fresh blueberries." "Here Brian, Bubba Gum." But a disappointing day from the BOY side it was.
[6:57am] A night full of bad dreams for Becky. I dreamed that there were insects in my bed, biting me, and when I woke up from that one, I went right into this one: the band had a performance at an outdoor amphitheater type thing, and we were supposed to sit on the risers in this thing. My dad and I were walking toward these risers and I was trying to say something important and he kept interrupting so I walked away and started to cry. I sat down on the risers and I heard my dad calling my name. I ignored it the first couple times, and finally I yelled, "WHAT??" and looked up. He was kind of far away as he said, "Stay right there!" He wasn't looking at me, though, he was looking past me, so I turned to see a small explosion and a guy come running into the place, he has some sort of bomb thing. I guess I made up this next weapon, but my friend Rob C had this little clear ball and when he threw it at this bomb guy, a puddle of water shot OUT of the guy's side (maybe like some sort of dehydration ball??) and he looked much less sturdy, but the bomb still remained in his hand, ready to be thrown (I guess it was a grenade.) There was a staredown between this guy and Rob.. and it was too intense. I woke up breathing SO hard, I was afraid of a heart attack. Jeez Louise. That's not cool. And the morning of a competition, too. Wish me luck! (And my half-birthday too!)
September 13 2002
[1:08pm] Goals at this point: pick up Ty, wash car, MANY MANY chores, call Jake, go spirit shopping and book selling, 6:00 (for trumpets) to 8:30 practice, and football. Whee! (Last night we got our hats and gloves and we all were required to wear them to practice but I didn't mind one bit because I love it.)
[7:46am] "Wow," you say, "you're up early. And on a day when you don't have any school! Why?" And I reply "Because drumline had practice from 7:30 A.M. to 9:30. Jeez freakin Louise." Another thing, I've been so busy lately. Do you remember my goals from the beginning of the week? I'll list them again: laundry, do all my homework, read Beowulf, do extra chores (gas & spirit $), pull off "We Love Rob" week, make locker signs. And a few other things, like 12 hours of band practice outside my 28 hours of school and 32 hours of sleeping.. Those three things make up about 45% of my last four days. I'm a math whiz. I have a few more goals for today: do MANY MANY chores, pick up Ty at 9:30, wash my car (it is FILTHY!), go spirit shopping and used book selling (with or without Jake), go to 6:30-8:30 full band practice, and go to the Herky football game with Chris C (aka 42.) So it's a full day.
September 9 2002
[6:49pm] I asked Andy K today if he wanted to go to the mall with me sometime and he nodded his head yes very enthusiastically. "How do you say mallrats in Spanish?" "Los ratones del centro comercial. O las ratas del centro comercial. Either way. One way we're mice, the other we're full out rats."
[6:38pm] I think my next layout will be based on one of the kids in the Band
Formerly Known As First Light. Maybe Rob. He's so helpful. I was venting to him about a few things and...
Rob: Are you wiggin'?
Becky: Huh?
Rob: Just making sure you're okay?
Becky: I'm certainly okay.
Rob: Ok.
Becky: I really appreciate your concern though. Really.
Becky: What would I do without you?
Rob: That's what I'm here for.
Becky: Maybe I'll just marry you.
Rob: Ok.
Becky: Haha.. That was easy.
September 8 2002
[10:34am] My goals for the week: laundry, do all my homework, finally read Beowulf, do extra chores (I've already done enough to pay for the Our Lady Peace concert, but now I have to do more so that I will have gas money and moolah to buy spirit stuff), successfully pull off "We Love Rob" week, make locker signs for the competition, and probably a few other things I'm forgetting.
September 7 2002
[2:59pm] Everyone is at Mozingo or practicing some guard stuff or working or something and I am really kind of sad that I can't talk to them. Oh well. My mom is taking me shopping later. Hopefully there will be cute things to buy. Also: next week is "We Love Rob" week. So if you see Rob, give him some luvvin. Throw him a tickertape parade.
[2:24pm] Hahahahhha.
Dog: *sneeze*
Becky: Bless you.
[6:25am] We lost the football game, but it wasn't for lack of trying. We led 28-14 at the half, and then slowly they snuck up on us and tied us in the last minute or so. So we went into overtime, the band stood up and really started cheering, and the other team scored a goal. Our team was given a chance to score and were 3 yards away from doing so, but just couldn't do it. After the game: Rob, Chris B, Chris C, Anne, Ronnie, Wesley, Jimka, Lauren, Rog, Shawn, Kelly, and I (in many different cars) (there were many more, but I can't think right now) went to S&Js and got snowcones or concretes (cookie dough.) Later it got late so we went home. I hit my bed at like 12:15 and was asleep by like 12:16. That's pretty good. Now I go over to Kelly's to watch DCI for an hour before they go to practice.
September 6 2002
[4:06pm] Um, yesterday at night practice, I was approached by two alumni that used to be in my section that I
used to have crushes on, and I would never talk to them because I had crushes on them and was shy. (If you know
me personally, you know who I'm talking about.) And that went like as follows. It's the most I've ever said to
either of them in their high school careers combined!!!
Alumnus#1: Hey, Becky!
Becky: Huh.
Alumnus#1: Non-talker! Do you talk now?
Becky: Yes.
Alumnus#1: Hey [Alumnus#2], she talks now!
Alumnus#2: Hey, you talk now?
Becky: Yes. *seconds of silence, smiles like an idiot*
Alumnus#2: So are you a section leader yet? --Wow, you're a SENIOR!
Becky: I am a senior, but not a section leader.
Alumnus#1: A senior??
Alumnus#2: Wow.
Becky: I'm not good enough to be a section leader, really.
Alumnus#1: HAHAHA, neither was [Alumnus#2.]
Alumnus#2: Yeah, really. I sucked. But that's that.
Becky: Well, it's too late now. *smiles like an idiot again*
Both Alumni: Yeah, I guess.
Becky: [really blushing now] Okay, well.. I think I'm gonna go take a shower now. See ya later!
September 5 2002
[4:28pm] I am SO HAHPEE that Kelly C won American Idol! Kelly A and I have been voting for her for a pretty long time. And we even got Rob to join in, even though he is pretty anti-sellout-pop-deal-stuff. He even let out a big "YAY!" when we found out. Another big YAY: the Our Lady Peace show starts at 8:00 so it'll be a LONG set! There's no opening band and I am completely stoked. I don't think I've ever said stoked before. ANOTHER big YAY: tonight is MY last first Thursday night practice. Okay, back to the old grindstone.
September 3 2002
[7:44pm] Okay, my computer is a bit broken so I'm having trouble updatin the calapittah. Better news: Our Lady Peace is coming to town on the 25th and I'm so happy. So hahpee! Thanks a BAJILLION MAGILLION FABILLION to Rob for telling me. He is a source of happiness. Another source of happiness: Kelly and I wore our dork glasses to school and matched. Wonderful fabulousness. That's all.
August 29 2002
[3:34pm] I'm really super sad because I don't get to attend my own Seniors' Last First Thursday Night Practice. BTW, no more writing until like Monday morning or afternoon. Or Tuesday, if I'm lazy.
August 28 2002
[5:28pm] I stole them today too, hahahaha. Here's what happened yesterday though. I put them on and Kelly said "Wow you remind me of that girl in She's All That. It's like, you have them on and you're fabulous but you have cool glasses, and you take them off and then you're BAM GORGEOUS." And I was like "Huh?" and then later Ricky approached me and told me that it was a good look for me (I'm euphami-cising, since his real words were rather a little more than that.) And Shawn too. And a couple others. So either I was hot or I was so pathetic-looking that they felt the need to boost my self confidence.
August 27 2002
[8:39pm] I stole Kelly's glasses today. Complete story tomorrow.
August 25 2002
[10:01am] Yes indeed. I went to the band car wash yesterday, not because I had any pledges or anything. I just went because I'm in the band and I needed my car washed. So there was a total of 125 cars washed in about 5 hours (25 cars an hour.) And $354.75 in donations (I donated $0.71 because I already have paid quite a bit on band funds.) And then at about 6:15, I went to Rob's house for First Light practice slash trumpet party. Actually, they're not called First Light anymore, because some other band in California has that name. Sigh. The Band Formerly Known As First Light. TBFKAFL rocked. I actually made a page of pictures, but then accidentally deleted it. But that will have to wait.
August 23 2002
[7:55pm] I have the best best friend in the world. Yeah, that's all I have to say.
[6:35am] Happy 14 years and 5 months birthday to my brother, and I'm having clothes problems. Everything has shrunk since I bought it. Hrmph. Yes, the clothes have shrunk, I have not grown. (MEANIES!) So I'm just gonna wear my band shirt today. :) Hurh hurh.
August 22 2002
[8:02pm] Massive amounts of homework, but night practice was cancelled for the night due to the heavy construction equipment
(bulldozers, steamrollers and whatnot) all situated on our track and field at the school, and the other field doesn't have lights and
since it gets dark around 7:40, we'd lose half our practice time. So there was drumline and guard, and I had to time finish my
homework. Four problems of Calculus took me an hour and a whole sheet of paper. Then I had to write a page-long paper thingy
for Adv Biology for why Biology is important in every day life. It's mostly crappy, but I can't muster a great paper on such a weak
topic. Sorry. Hmm.. NO practice tomorrow, but there's a trumpet practice/party at My Dear Bertie's house on Saturday. And before
it actually starts, First Light will be playing, so of course, as Honorary Roupie of the group, I have to be there. Whee!!
August 21 2002
[7:10pm] Today is Ronnie's birthday. I made her a sign and she thanked me profusely with a hug and a "Sorry, my shirt is wet."
More inane home-keys practice in Comp Ops. I can type quickly (73 wpm) using the eight fingers I use. I don't always have to
use my index finger for just Y, H, J, and N. Although we've only learned J out of those. (Going slowly--no, quickly--insane.) The
worst part of having that class is that I have it the hour before Calculus. It doesn't make any sense. It's like doing the cooldown
section of a workout and then doing 50 minutes of hard-core calisthenics, but this is my BRAIN we're talking about. Gah.
