[10:29pm] Forget the step stool. I reorganized the room and have made my dresser into a step up
onto the bed. No more falling off and bashing myself senseless! Instead, I need a Stephen Dunn book and a Billy Collins book, both mandatory for my poetry class.

[10:09am] Well, I'm back at school. Have been for a while. I know, I've been bad about updating, but I was trying to catch up with my
Rhodesies and with my Drew, and now that classes have started (I'll give you the run-down on that, too), I have even less time. But I'll
try to make a point of letting yall join my little life every once in a while. Okay, classes. 20th C. Spain: I have Prof Doyle
for this one and she reminds me a little bit of Srta Kehr, which is always good. Other than that, I'm thinking it's going to be a pretty
difficult class. 8 kids, and if you don't know the answer, you better hide it on your face. 20th C. US History: Prof Saxe. He's
kinda fun and I'm not extremely worried about the course material. Adv. Poetry Workshop: I'm going to love this class, I think.
Prof Barr (not related to my previous Prof Barr for Calc) is so wonderful and I think she'll tear my poetry to shreds. Absolutely
wonderful. (And she's making it mandatory that we see Stephen Dunn and Billy Collins--poets, one Ex Poet Laureate--when they come
here.) Financial Accounting: And for those of you who don't know, there is another kind of accounting besides financial.
Cost accounting. Anyway, Prof Thompson seems like a pretty good guy, but I'm thinking the material will be hard. It's okay,
though. I'll fight through it. Search 201: Prof Reed. Has a ponytail. Wants us to achieve/maintain/regain a childlike wonder and
sense of play in the vast and mysterious universe. Was drenched in sweat for the first class. (Granted it was close to 80 degrees in
that room and he was wearing long sleeves.) On the upside, Matt and Laura are in there with me. Good times! Anecdote: I got a
ticket in Cape Girardeau for not coming to a complete stop at a flashing red light at which I was turning red, and for not wearing my
seatbelt. Of course, I had been wearing my seatbelt until I was in park and turning so that I could talk to him. I'm a big seatbelt fan.
I wear them even when parked, except I guess I got nervous. The seatbelt is the thing that makes me mad. I can't attest for the red
flashing light, since I didn't even see it. I probably slowed, since I was going to enter a different lane of traffic around there,
but.. I don't know. It's kind of a blur since I wasn't conscious going through every traffic law in my head. I was simply trying to get
back on the interstate in an unfamiliar town. Anecdote 2: I gave Olivia a T-shirt and a poem, which maybe she'll email me so I
can post it here, since I may have given her the only copy of it that there is. And I have a matching T-shirt, and for her party night
(Aug 22), we went to la casa de Glassell to watch Kill Bill 2. It proved to be an excellent time. Anecdote 3: Our beds are very
tall. They are taller than my bellybutton and I am 70 inches tall so you figure it out. They're hard to get up onto. One time, I was
attempting to get up there and failed pretty miserably. I fell off the bed and crashed into the dresser, which cut my stomach pretty
badly and I was not a happy camper until Deb came to save my life with bandaids and ointments of various types. Then I was fine.
Anecdote 4: When we got here, our room was wet. I'm not sure if there's a leaky pipe or what, but the floor had puddles of
condensation. So now we keep it very cold and it's not so wet. I'm wondering if they have such things as dehumidifiers. And if they do,
where do I get one?? ... I have so many anecdotes, but I really should get started on some homework. Va-hoo! P.S.: I thank my mom
heartily for all the presents!

[10:37pm] My car. Happy birthday, Olivia. I leave for Memphis tomorrow.

[10:57pm] I bought a new car. A silver 2003 Hyundai Elantra. I haven't named him/her yet. Not knowing gender makes it hard. Also, I've
been getting ready to go back to school, so.. lots of things to do. When I get a moment I'll post pictures of Car.

[8:45pm] Well, I see you there with a rose in your teeth: one more thin gypsy
thief. Well, I see Jane's away; she sends her regards. And what can I tell you, my brother my killer? What can I possibly say? I guess
that I miss you, I guess I forgive you, I'm glad you stood in my way. First off, I'd like to thank the young artistic
phenom Zach Newton for giving me a few of his "sketches", and then for letting me go all crazy and use them on my website. Suh-weet.
Okay, now that that is done, I can go concentrate on stuff like buying a car, clothes, etc. Packing. I leave in a week.

[9:36pm] Still depressed about the vote, but my Drew came this weekend so I am doing better. We went out to eat at the Olive Garden with
my family (and not Kristen because I guess she went into hiding), watched TWO Mighty Ducks movies and "Three Ninjas",
went car shopping, saw "The Village" which I enjoyed a lot, rented "Silence of the Lambs" (woo) and "Cold Creek Manor" (boo). Not in
that order, specifically. But it was a good time. I had missed him a lot. As for now, all yall need to know is that I am redesigning.
It'll be majestic. Oh, and I found this the other day. Kelly's back from tour now and I hope she had a great time.

[9:21pm] I voted the other day. Missouri had this proposed amendment to the state constitution to define marriage as between a man and a
woman. I voted heartily against it but was vastly disappointed in my fellow Missourians that the vote turned out so badly (29%-70%). I
felt terrible. I'm a little depressed. Thank goodness for Drew, who says that it doesn't matter, because it'll come to a federal
Constitutional amendment and that'll never pass. I hope he's right. I definitely do. Today I talked about the issue (among other things)
with Kristen and her mom while they made me a grilled cheese sandwich. Then we got the Little Beast its last oil change (whilst under my
supervision), and Kristen a perm type thing. It makes her hair curly again, I=happy. On a different note, go buy something. It doesn't have to be for me. Just do it.
